Berta Leon, MS 
Clinical Intern

With a lifelong passion to help others, Berta aspires to use the skills and specialized knowledge gained from working in the field of human services for over 18 years as a Family Advocate, Behavioral Specialist, Bilingual Home-Based Therapist, and Student Assistance Counselor. Her background includes extensive familiarity with young children, adolescents, Spanish-speaking families, as well as outreach work within the community. She holds a master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island and is currently earning a master’s degree in Holistic Clinical Mental Health from Salve Regina School. 

 

With a compassionate and nonjudgmental approach, Berta understands that everyone’s journey is unique. She strives to create an authentic and supportive environment where her clients can explore their thoughts and feelings. Berta is also committed to helping her clients build healthy relationships and connections, and she believes that the therapeutic relationship can be a powerful catalyst for growth and change. Berta aims to support individuals in achieving health and wellness through a holistic, client-centered approach, integrating diverse therapeutic techniques to meet each person's unique needs. 

 

She draws from various therapeutic modalities, grounding her work with clients in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Relational Cultural Therapy. With a belief that hope creates an environment for change, Berta works to encourage sustained growth and wellness of the individuals she serves. Her goal is to walk alongside and create a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and emotions and ultimately foster personal growth and well-being. Berta offers bilingual (Spanish/English) services.
