OUR MISSION

At Cumberland Counseling, LLC, our mission is to provide competent, professional, mental health counseling services to individuals, couples and families in a safe and comfortable environment. We embrace ongoing education and evidence-based skills training to provide the highest levels of service possible, and we endeavor to grow our practice by providing clinical training, supervision, and case consultation services to student-interns and newer clinicians. We are committed to fostering empathy, inclusion, and cultural competence, ensuring that our clinicians are prepared to provide effective and compassionate care to clients from all backgrounds. Through our rigorous training and collaboration programs, we empower our team to have a positive impact on the well-being of those we serve. We also offer play therapy services for children and psychological testing services.

MEET OUR TEAM

Nompelelo Boucher, Ph.D.

LMHC, LMFT, ACS, LMHC and LMFT Approved Supervisor

Dr. Pel Boucher is the founder and owner of Cumberland Counseling. She is licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). She holds licenses to practice in RI, MA, CT, VA, and NC. She is an approved supervisor for people seeking both LMFT and LMHC licensure. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Zululand in South Africa and her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Salem State College in 2006. In 2022, she earned her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University, New England, where she continues to work as Adjunct Faculty and Clinical Supervisor in the Applied Psychology

Department. Dr. Boucher has been providing mental health services in a wide variety of capacities since 1998. She now focuses on providing clinical training, supervision, and case consultations. She brings a strong multi-cultural perspective and humility to her work and employs various modalities, including CBT, ACT, DBT, EFT, SFT, and the Gottman Couple Method.

Steffen Gillom, Ph.D.

Director of Operations

LMFT, CTP, AAMFT Approved Supervisor

Dr. Steffen Gillom is the Director of Operations and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Cumberland Counseling. He provides supervision and guidance for our team of clinicians and sees clients on a limited basis. Dr. Gillom is available for in-person or telehealth appointments for clients in RI, MA and CT.

Karima Prince, BSN, RN

Practice Manager

Karima Prince is the Practice Manager of Cumberland Counseling. She oversees our administrative team and manages our two office locations. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, she brings extensive expertise to our organization. She also works closely with the executive team to ensure compliance standards are met and supports the administrative team with credentialing, billing, insurance verification, and new client intakes.
