Vincent Yannella BA, MA Candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy
Clinical Intern

Hello,

My name is Vincent Yannella. I am originally from Milford, CT, and will be working as a student intern for Cumberland Counseling in Cumberland, RI, on a part-time basis under the supervision of Dr. Boucher. I have extensive experience working in the mental health field with a diverse population of clients from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds who struggle with mental illness and substance abuse disorders.

I have been working in the mental health field for the past 25 years and am passionate about helping clients recover from their mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Charter Oak State College in New Britain, CT, in 2002.

I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University. I am specializing in emotionally focused couples therapy, where I can counsel individuals, couples, and families who are struggling with major mental illness and substance abuse disorders.

Additionally, I have a passion for clinical neuroscience and psychopharmacology. I am a highly motivated individual who wants to see my clients improve their quality of life. Also, I am passionate about Solution-Focused Therapy and have experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral interventions and techniques, but I believe in incorporating the Rogerian Client-Centered Therapy approach as well. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of effective, successful therapy for my clients. I believe that without having a strong therapeutic alliance, therapy is likely to fail.
